I wasn't talking about whether or not it's easier to look away. What I meant is that I'd prefer people are happy in general because I have a sense of empathy, so of course I'm going to dislike someone who doesn't care whether or not they hurt other people. But that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore it when people are upset.
