[ very real trauma, though. before he responds either way, there is a fragmented series of memories that answers for him: life as a child, together with shen and jonas, amongst other familiar faces. growing up together on some farflung alien planet. an image, brief, of jonas being nearly sliced in two by a monster. of himself, dying to some unknown illness. of time, repeating itself, looping until they can fix the series of tragedies that kills them.
it's time loops babey. anyway his adventure was much less grounded in reality, so while he's still deeply affected, it is at least not rooted in something like the reaper's game, like rupert was haunted by wiwaldi. so he blinks out of it, coughing, recovering. ]
