That sounds like, um. A lot. Which feels like a massive understatement in this circumstance.

It was a lot. But it was for the better. It's... difficult to explain, unfortunately.

[ he laughs ]

Something about their... "DNA" whatever that is... having to match? It's... [ he wiggles a hand ] more than I could really understand. All we knew at the end of the day was that the Watchers had to... enter that bomb and become the fuel for the explosion. That was the only way we were able to end things. For good.

...Yeah, I don't get that at all.

Were they alright, in the end? After... that?

They returned to us in the end... yes. I'm sure it... hurt in its own way. But Hua Cheng is in one piece, so I'm thankful he didn't remain Dust.

Right. Even if things like that can be fixed - it doesn't mean it's okay that they happened in the first place.

Precisely.

Out of curiosity... How were you all able to leave the School?

[agleam]

Sure. Um, the reason we were being kept there was because of a story, actually... It needed us to stay there so we could find an ending to it. It made some of us villains, and we had to fight against them. After that was over and they were back, we had to decide what we wanted the ending to be.

[callalilies]

What sort of ending did you all opt for?

[agleam]

Uh...

[slightly awkward pause]

Well - a lot of it was really nice. We made sure we could all go home safely, and that the people it forced to be villains got to come back to us, too. The kind of happy ending you'd want to read about.
