[Down the hallway, Sieghart pauses for a beat before returning the grin and closing the distance between them.]

Yeah? What do you want to talk about?

Oh, just... I got kind of sidetracked trying to meet a bunch of new people over the past few days, but I didn't want you to think I was avoiding you or anything! So, hi.

[he is a simple boy.]

So, what are you doing now? Have you tried the doors yet?

[agleam]

Not yet! I'm surprised by how many there are... If all of these lead to different places, it's gotta be a pretty big hotel.

[reaching for a doorknob at random.]

You wanna check this one out?

[ercnerd]

[He doesn't want to check any of them out. Alas, want and should are separate entities.]

It's better to go together than alone. Let's go.

[agleam]

[and in they go! right into a restaurant populated by shadowy figures who are going to look familiar to the both of them. wild.]

[Uh.]

Is that Maya?

[agleam]

I think I see Otome, too... And - Caleb?

[and they all start beckoning them in.]

[ercnerd]

[He looks at Rupert.]

. . . Should I go ahead and check it out for us?

[agleam]

I'll come with you. We shouldn't split up.

[ercnerd]

All right. Let's go, then.

[To the shadows they go, where they're welcomed in most familiar fashions. Sieghart just takes one of the vacant seats without responding.]

[agleam]

[as he sits down:]

...Keep your guard up.

[he probably doesn't have to say that, but. he's suspicious!!]

[ercnerd]

[They sit for a while, engaged by shadowy mimes. Maya's body language screams of teasing that Sieghart takes in stride. When nothing happens, he casually glances at Rupert.]

. . . Looks like we have no choice but to eat. Order something, won't you?

[agleam]

[he's distracted by the figures around him - otome laughs and reaches to put a hand on his arm, soothing, and caleb stays reserved as he talks.]

Uh - soup, maybe?

[a bowl of soup immediately appears before him.]

Okay, your turn.

[ercnerd]

[That is so bland, Rupert.]

I'll have a burger.

[And a burger he'll have. He picks it up and starts eating, eyeing Rupert's interactions with the silhouettes the while.]

Do you feel anything?

[agleam]

I feel like this is really ominous, yeah.

[even if the shadows haven't done anything too out of the ordinary yet.]

[ercnerd]

[On the contrary, the shadows begin partaking of their own shadowy meal. It'd be a fun meal time, if it weren't so manufactured. But Sieghart's shoulders are free of tension as he eats.]

I'll take care of it if anything happens, so just enjoy your soup.

[agleam]

I'm not just going to let you take care of it on your own...

[but in the meantime, he'll eat this soup, he guesses.]

[Thankfully, there'll be nothing of which to take care. A few bites later, Sieghart, still ignoring Maya's likeness beside him, snorts.]

At least it's not on fire this time.

[agleam]

Really don't like that this is the bar now! But yeah, it's not on fire.

Wait - what do you mean this time?!

[ercnerd]

Did you forget? The last time we did something involving food, it lit itself on fire. I had to put it out.

[Back when they were . . . married.]

[agleam]

[ah. right.]

Oh, that. Sorry, that was months ago for me.

[ercnerd]

It was the same for me. Don't tell me you're having memory troubles this early? Between you and me, I should be the one who's forgetting.

You should be forgetting? What do you mean?

It's nothing unusual. [He takes a bite out of the burger.] When you have six centuries' worth of memories, they tend to crowd each other out.
