[Disappointing but not surprised...]

Fate seems to enjoy bloodying your hands.

[JUST SQUINTING AT HIM.]

What is a lava lamp.

It's the only part that I don't understand. I need to know what a lava lamp is to judge the type of foul luck it would take to be stabbed to death by one.

Being sore isn't much of an issue.

[FOR HIM AT LEAST but he just squints a little.]

Is there something particularly painful or bizarre about the glass? That's a fairly normal way to die.

[IS IT.]

Compared to the myriad of idiotic ways we've seen people die here, you wouldn't find being stabbed in the throat with broken glass acceptable? You could be compacted into a cube of trash. You could be accidentally trampled by a horse. You could be eaten by fish. You could be mistaken for a doppelganger-creating octopus and strangled by a cursed person.

[dumb ways to die playing in the background]

[Amused...]

It wouldn't be mine, either. I didn't mind the way I went; I'd choose that over the execution.

From hitting the ground, yes. Fall from that high up and it's not really much of anything on the way out.

Falling to death is an old friend by now.

[A SIGH.]

Though the soreness will be an irritant...

It won't be. It's just annoying compared to dying and waking up entirely fine. [...] By a definition.

Returning to the average world in which death is typically permanent must be a troubling adjustment for some to make.

Two months is a bare drop in a river for me. Hardly enough time to readjust my expectations of something as fundamental as mortality as it functions in my own world. Do you find it a difficult adjustment?

That's true.

[RUPERT....... IS SO TENDERHEARTED.]

I guess it really makes no difference then, even if the dead are just five feet away screaming about peas.
