tsuru is standing in front of one of the ~mystery~ doors. when he spots rupert, he will wave at him to come over. ]

Have you been inside?

[he shakes his head.]

No, I haven't... There's a lot more areas than I expected, though! I mean, assuming there are all going to different places. [glancing at the door] You want to just start with this one?

[preowned]

Yeah, might as well. What's the worst that can happen?

[ a pause ]

Haha, probably a bad question!

[agleam]

[he's about to open the door but for a second he pauses and gives tsuru A Look.]

I wasn't that worried until about two seconds ago. Although I guess I should have been...?

[preowned]

I'm sure it'll be okay. You can run fast, right?

[ please stop ]

[agleam]

That's very reassuring, thanks.

[it's about to be even less reassuring, because he finally opens the door and a huge snake with someone inside is popping out at them and screaming.

rupert is also immediately screaming.]

[ he isn't sure if he is more startled by the creature or rupert screaming?? either way, his first instinct is to draw his sword and to just fucking

stab the thing. however, it is likely not actually killable, so he is just getting bit on the arm ]

[he looks clearly horrified about the bite, not so much the attempted stabbing, but before he can ask tsuru if he's alright, he gets distracted by what he sees inside the snake.]

Cecily?

[then, very quickly, with a glance at the weapon tsuru is holding:]

—Don't hurt her!

[even if he's getting the idea that she wants him dead? wild.]

Who is Cecily!

[ he's preoccupied!!!

but that does at least make him step back, his attention now fully on rupert. ]

[agleam]

She was - she's my friend!

[gestures intently to the person inside the snake, who he does not know will appear as someone different to tsuru.

despite the murderous vibes, he's going to reach for her if he doesn't immediately get stopped.]

[ rupert why!!!!

tsuru goes to pull him back, except he finally gets a good look at the face inside the snake's mouth. he only stops for a second, but it's probably enough time for rupert to get a lil bite as a tweat. after, though, he's just yanking him back away from the door. ]

[agleam]

[because he's stupid (pensive)

anyways, after they've both been bitten and he's being pulled back, the door slams on the monster. they're free! but he can still hear the screaming, so he's trying to get out of tsuru's hold (which is probably useless, but it's fine).]

Let go! She's still in there!

[preowned]

She isn't! I didn't see this Cecily, I saw someone else-- it's an illusion.

[ unless rupert is a lot stronger than he looks, it'll be pretty useless. tsuru's grip is very strong. ]

[agleam]

[he is, as we all know, a twink, so it's definitely useless. it takes a few seconds for that to register, but when it does, he at least stops struggling, taking a breath instead.]

...Okay. You can let go now, I'm not going to do anything.

[preowned]

[ well, he's trusting him, so he'll let go of him. ]

... it's fine. Let's move away from the door.

[agleam]

[he runs back to the door

no he doesn't, he just stands here and glares at it instead. angy.]

...So that's what they think of as entertainment.

It seems so.

[ he glances at the other doors. ]

They are likely not much better.

[agleam]

No, I'd guess not.

[he mutters something under his breath, before he takes another breath and calms down a fraction.]

...At least it gives us more of an idea of what they're looking for.

It is not a good sign for what might be in store for us.

[ it's the first week!

he sighs. ]

... who is Cecily?

[agleam]

...She was a close friend of mine.

[it's quiet, before he remembers - he was busy being angry and distressed, but he wasn't the only one who saw something awful.]

What about you? You got bit... And you said you saw somebody else in there?

[ he glances at his arm. ]

I saw Aruji. [ ... ] My current master.

[agleam]

Your... Oh, that's right. Mikazuki told me about the sword thing.

At least it's happening early. Prepare ourselves, remember?

[ it's better than the first week being rainbows and sunshine before getting hit with murder ]

I'm not trying to say it's a bad thing to know what's going on, but...

Sometimes that doesn't make it any easier to see.
